Dr. Holly S. Shulman
Founder and President of Ceralink Inc., Material Scientist
Dr. Holly Shulman founded Ceralink in January 2000 to evaluate and
implement commercially viable materials technologies. She worked in
R&D in the US, Switzerland, and New Zealand where her entrepreneurial
spirit led her from research to business. Dr. Shulman recognized the
disconnect between researchers and business goals and set up Ceralink
to bridge the gap, for fun and profit. Her worldwide contacts allow
her global networking advantages.
Dr. Shulman has over 20 years of industrial and research experience
in a wide range of materials including structural oxide and non-oxide
ceramics, electroceramics and glass. She is an inventor on two pending
patents in the areas of MEA recycling and microwave powder metals, in
addition to one patent on high strength titanium diboride.
Dr. Shulman is experienced at making deals, such as joint ventures,
acquisitions, and technology licensing. She believes strongly in collaboration
and win-win relationships. She has brought powerful teams together to
deliver innovative solutions and products to Ceralink's clients. Some
examples include building microwave autoclaves and MAT furnaces, obtaining
$5 million in DOE funding, and cost benefit analyses for scale-up of
new processes.
Education: B.S. Ceramic Engineering, New York State College
of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY (1986), M. S. Material
Science, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA (1991), Ph.D. Swiss
Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland (1995).
Dr. Shulman's research interests and publications
include:
- Microwave processing
- Grain boundary engineering
- Structural ceramics
- Electroceramics
- Nanoceramics
